Cost for Services at the Student Health Center
The Rider Student Health Center bills the student's health insurance plan for all services including office visits, immunizations, physicals, etc. The cost-of-care is similar to the cost-of-care in the local community.
When students of Rider University utilize the Student Health Center (SHC) for services that are rendered by the SHC staff, the services provided will be billed to the student’s health insurance plan (either their own health insurance or SHIP). If the insurance company indicates there are patient responsibilities (i.e., co-pay, deductible), Rider University typically pays the co-pay or deductible indicated by the insurance company. If a student is referred for services outside of the SHC, the costs of those services, including patient billing, are the responsibility of the student. These costs may include imaging (x-ray, MRI), lab testing (blood work), emergency care, and many other types of care that the SHC is not capable of performing.
