Three years ago, freshman Sean Binning underwent emergency brain surgery for a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Last month, he earned MAAC Diver and MAAC Rookie Diver of the Year as the men’s team won its 10th straight MAAC Championship. His story is one of incredible perseverance. The surgery removed the left side of his skull to relieve pressure from the AVM. He spent 18 days in the neuro ICU in a sedated coma. He needed a tracheostomy tube and a feeding tube. Sean had to relearn basic life functions — how to speak, how to walk, how to eat and even how to breathe. He lost 40 lbs.

How Maliah McCoy found her #HomeAtRider: "After visiting for the first time, I knew Rider was for me. It was the perfect size, wasn’t too big or too small, and I met so many friendly and welcoming people!! Rider has given me so many leadership opportunities, amazing friendships and the ability to grow and truly be myself. I truly believe that Rider’s community is one of a kind, and I wouldn’t have found it anywhere else. I have so many great memories from my time at Rider so far, like the fall concert of my freshman year, when my favorite artist A Boogie performed.

How Grace Sturz found her #HomeAtRider : "At first, I knew very little about Rider since I'm from out of state. After visiting, I fell in love with the campus and all of the friendly people I met. Rider has so many wonderful opportunities for growth and leadership. One of the main reasons I ended up going to Rider was because I was accepted into the Rider Bonner Community Scholars program, which I am still a part of today. Being a Bonner Scholar has provided me with a second family on campus.
