A Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences, where our goal is to prepare graduates for a lifetime of continuous learning, professional and career success, and civic engagement.
Our full-time faculty, over 130 strong, are dedicated mentors, industry experts and academic advisors committed to our students’ educational journey, both in and outside of the classroom. The spirit of engaged learning is deeply ingrained in the College. Students work side by side with faculty on research and creative projects, collaborate on artistic performances, travel together on study abroad programs, and collaborate on meaningful shadow and internship experiences.
As part of our curriculum, students receive the foundation of a liberal education — a broad and well-rounded course of study in the humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts, and the physical and life sciences. Such an education is crucial for the development of the career skills most valued in today’s workforce: the ability to think critically, work collaboratively, communicate effectively and understand diverse perspectives. These skills prepare our students to adapt to the evolving workforce, thrive in the career and creative marketplace and be competitive applicants for graduate and professional post-baccalaureate training or in the world of the creative and performing arts.
We also recognize that choosing a degree path is no easy task. Not all students are ready to declare a major before arriving on campus. That’s why we’ve developed the General Liberal Arts & Science Studies (GLASS) program to help support students who are undecided to strategically explore their academic options and create a plan that best fits their goals.
I am proud to be the dean of such a diverse academic college. If you are a prospective student, I encourage you to visit campus to explore the exciting developments taking place, from innovative facilities renovations to new academic programs in growing professional fields. Rider's College of Arts and Sciences is here to prepare you for a bright future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Bidle
Dean, College of Arts & Sciences
