Note: The information below is an summary of the relevant sections of the AFSCME contract.
If you are a FULL-TIME employee:
for study at Rider University:
- employee: Full remission for study at the graduate or undergraduate level, after 3 months' employment, fall and spring semesters there is a course limit of 9 undergraduate credits or 6 graduate credits, summer sessions there is a limit of 6 undergraduate credits or 3 graduate credits for each of the two sessions
- child*: Full remission for undergraduate or graduate study for dependent child only, up until age 26, after 6 months' employment; for non-dependent child, after 3 years' employment
- spouse: Full remission for undergraduate or graduate study, after 6 months' employment
for study outside Rider University:
- employee: No remission
- child*: No remission (call Human Resources for information on the Tuition Exchange)
- spouse: No remission
If you are a PART-TIME employee:
for study at Rider University:
- employee: Full remission for undergraduate or graduate study, after 6 months' employment, fall and spring semesters there is a course limit of 9 undergraduate credits or 6 graduate credits, summer sessions there is a limit of 6 undergraduate or 3 graduate credits for each of the two sessions
- child*: Remission for one 3-credit undergraduate course, fall and spring, dependent only, through age 23 only, after 3 years' full-time equivalency
- spouse: Remission for one 3-credit undergraduate course, fall and spring, after 3 years' full-time equivalency
for study outside Rider University
- employee: No remission
- child*: No remission
- spouse: No remission
* Rider's standard definition of "child": Child is defined to mean an unmarried person under age 24, who is the natural child, stepchild or adopted child. In the case of a stepchild or adopted child, the employee must have assumed parental responsibility before the child's 13th birthday.
