Note: The information below is an synopsis of the relevant sections of the AAUP contract and current practice. In case of discrepancies the AAUP contract will be the final rule.
If you are a FULL-TIME AAUP employee:
for study at Rider University:
- employee: Full remission for full-time or part-time study, graduate or undergraduate level, non-credit only for teaching faculty except by provost permission, Reading Clinicians graduate only
- child*: Full remission for full-time or part-time undergraduate study, 50% remission for graduate study, through age 23 only
- spouse: Full remission for full-time or part-time undergraduate study, 50% remission for graduate study
for study outside Rider University:
- employee: No remission
- child*: Up to 80% of Rider's tuition (for tuition only), undergraduate full-time only, through age 23 only, limited to 4 academic years
- spouse: No remission
If you are a PART-TIME AAUP employee:
for study at Rider University:
- employee: 75% remission for graduate study only, teaching adjuncts must have taught more than 6 courses over the preceding 3 years, part-time coaches up to 3 graduate-level courses per fiscal year, Reading Clinicians 100% remission (graduate only)
- child*: Adjunct child remission for one 3-credit undergraduate course, during semester that employee is teaching, through age 23 only
- spouse: Adjunct spouse remission for one 3-credit undergraduate course, during semester that employee is teaching
for study outside Rider University:
- employee: No remission
- child*: No remission
- spouse: No remission
*Child is defined to mean an unmarried person under age 24, who is the natural child, stepchild or adopted child of the bargaining unit member. In the case of a stepchild or adopted child, the employee must have assumed parental responsibility before the child's 13th birthday. In case of a child who has served in the military service or in institutionalized social service, the maximum age limit for tuition remission benefits is 27 years.
