Rider University recognizes that students may work at a part-time job while they are completing their educational goals. Often, the work performed will put into practice or further reinforce concepts learned in their coursework. Engaged Learning points may be earned for part-time, off-campus work performed for pay if it meets all of the following criteria:
- the work must be for pay*, part-time, and performed off campus;
- the work allows for the application of concepts and/or skills learned in the classroom to the job;
- the work builds professional readiness, enhances career potential, and helps students to clearly define their career goals.
If the work you perform meets the above criteria, you may earn engaged learning points. The following guidelines apply:
- in Canvas complete and submit the experience form named ICF: Part-time, Off-Campus Paid Work;
- students must spend between 20 – 100 or more hours in the position over the course of one year;
- the form may be submitted only one time to earn engaged learning points;
- no more than 3 EL points may be earned for this experience;
- a well-written reflection is required and must respond to the questions found in the reflection rubric on the Canvas course page.
