Over three hundred of Rider’s credit-bearing courses earn Engaged Learning points because they incorporate rigorous, hands-on learning as part of the curriculum. Approved courses span disciplines and academic levels, and new courses are added throughout the year. There is no limit to the number of courses you can take that earn engaged learning points.
NOTE: The lists of approved courses are subject to change at any time. Check the list each semester during course selection to look for updates. The courses listed below may not be offered every semester.
Courses Recently Added:
- CSC 410 Data Science and Big Data Analytics (earns 3 EL points in GRS: Guided Research and Study)
- ENG 435 Seminar in Milton 3 credits (earns 3 EL points in GRS: Guided Research and Study)
- MUS 231 Music Production Workshop 1 credit (earns 1 EL point in AMC: Arts, Music and Creativity)
- POL 200 New Jersey Government and Politics 3 credits (earns 3 EL points in CCE: Civic and Community Engagement)
Approved courses are easily identified by looking at the Enhanced Course Roster. Select the term you are interested in. Look for a column titled Course Attr(ibute). (If you do not see the column displayed, click on the Show/Hide Columns icon on the top right and select the Course Attr. button to enable it.) The Course Attr. column indicates which courses earn points and in which engaged learning category. The ECR is completely searchable by using filters. You can search by course prefix, course number, section, instructor, and more. You can even search the Course Attr. field for a list of courses that earn points by typing ELP in the search box.
At the end of each semester once your passing academic grade has been recorded by the Registrar, the credits from the Engaged Learning courses you completed are converted into points, up to a maximum of 3 points for any one course. Points will be recorded on your Engaged Learning Transcript and in DegreeWorks within one week after grade submission is completed.
There are two ways you may review a comprehensive list of all Engaged Learning courses. You can view an alphabetical list of all courses by course prefix and number or a list of courses divided into the six Categories of Engaged Learning.
