When a student has submitted an experience in BroncNation and indicated that you are the reviewer, you will receive an email from [email protected]. You should go into BroncNation, locate the experience submission, and review it as soon as possible.
How to use BroncNation
- Log into Bronc Nation at broncnation.rider.edu using your Rider Key. Click on the menu icon at the top left to open a list.
- Click on the Admin icon. Note: If you do not see the Admin option, contact [email protected] to be provided with this level of access.
- From the Summary page select "Self-Reported Experiences". Then click "View All Self-Reported Experiences".
- On the Experience Requests page make sure that the Pending tab is selected. The Pending tab provides a list of all student experiences that need to be reviewed, not only those that are for your review.
- To locate the student experience you need to review, enter the student’s name in the Search box. This will display all pending experiences submitted by the student.
- If you have multiple student experience forms to review, it may be more useful to search for the experience type.
- Example: enter New Student Engagement Experience in the search box to display all of those submissions. Then, open and review only those student submissions that are for you.
- Only review the experience form(s) that you were notified about. You are not responsible to review all of a student’s submissions. Each experience form is assigned to a specific reviewer who knows the experience best.
To review a specific student’s experience form, do the following:
- In the Pending list, click on the experience name to open the form.
- Review the form data provided by the student.
- Verify the start and end dates to the best of your knowledge.
- Do the hours indicated represent how many you know or feel should have been spent in this experience during the dates indicated?
- Read the reflection, paying attention to whether it responds to the rubric questions. The questions are the basis for assessing our program, and we ask that all reflections respond to those four points. The rubric questions are provided below for your convenience.
- Next you need to take action. There are two options:
- Approve. If the dates, hours and reflection are all acceptable, click on the Approve button. This will automate an email to be sent to the student, advising them that their experience has been approved.
- Deny. If any of the information is not accurate, or the reflection does not sufficiently respond to the rubric questions, click Deny. This will open a text box where you can:
- briefly indicate to the student how to change the information and resubmit it for another review; or
- briefly explain why the experience will not be approved.
- Encourage students to resubmit a valid experience that is denied but that, with a little change, can eventually be approved.
If you receive a new experience form that looks suspiciously like one you approved in the past, please do not approve it a second time. Send the details to the Engaged Learning Coordinator to investigate. Experiences may be inadvertently resubmitted by a student a second time, but we do not want to approve it more than once.
The student’s reflection should provide a thoughtful and thorough response to the following questions to meet the engaged learning objectives:
