A unique aspect of our programs is the inclusion of numerous field experiences which provide students the opportunity to investigate ecosystems on land and sea. Consequently, we provide field experiences to all our majors in many of our classes as well as a separate field course that offers students real-world settings to conduct research, identify and address challenges, and to further their own perspectives on the process of scientific discovery.
Environmental sciences and environmental studies majors can complete the course ENV-340 Field Methods and Data Analysis. This course includes advanced activities incorporating marine and environmental field-based exercises, GIS analyses, statistical analyses, and database management. Students may also incorporate field experiences into independent research projects for academic credit.
