About Specialty Housing
Rider University is proud to offer a range of specialty housing options designed to enhance the educational and social experiences for new and returning students. Students with special interests on campus have their choice of unique living communities:
- Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
- Fraternity and Sorority Housing
- Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH)
- Student Athletic Housing
Application and approval process:
A separate request and approval process is required for all specialty housing, with the exception Athletic Housing which is addressed through the athletic administration.
- Make Your Housing Deposit: All students must pay the housing deposit before they can submit a housing application or request for specialty housing.
- Take Note of Important Dates: Visit the New Student Housing Process or Returning Student Housing Process pages for important deadlines and application instructions.
- Apply for Housing: Complete the online housing application and submit a request to join one of Rider University’s specialty housing options.
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) - New students only
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) foster academic and social engagement among students with shared interests. These communities provide unique housing opportunities tailored to students' majors and extracurricular passions.
Gender-Inclusive Housing (GIH)
Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) offers students the opportunity to live with roommates of any gender or orientation in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Available in select rooms across campus. To be considered, students will need to submit a GIH application in the Housing Portal.
Fraternity and Sorority (Greek) Housing
Fraternity and sorority members have the opportunity to live together in communities that promotes leadership, collaboration, and social engagement. Dedicated spaces are available to members of recognized Greek organizations.
Student Athletic Housing
Rider University offers housing specifically designed for student-athletes to support their demanding schedules and foster a community among teammates. Athletic housing is coordinated through the Athletic administration. Student-athletes do not need to submit a separate application but should ensure their housing preferences are communicated to their respective coaches and administrators. Placement is based on team assignments and availability.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
Students can request housing accommodations if they have been approved by the Office of Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS). Students must submit a Housing for Students with Disabilities Request through the Housing Portal. Please note that as part of the process, students will need to submit a copy of their medical documentation to the SASS office. No medical information should be shared or submitted to the Office of Residence Life.
