The office of Disbursements and Career Development and Success now offers students the opportunity to find campus employment online using Handshake. Students accessing Handshake have the ability to view and apply for undergraduate jobs and graduate assistantship positions. If you are a newly accepted student and starting at Rider University in the upcoming semester, please know you will not have access to Handshake until the beginning of the semester in which you are enrolled to start in.

Search available jobs using Handshake by following these directions:

  1. Visit Handshake
  2. New users:
    • Enter your Rider email address;
    • Click on the “forgot your password” link and follow the prompts.
  3. You will need to submit a resume and cover letter in order to apply for all on-campus positions. All resumes and cover letters must be approved by Career Coaches prior to applying for a position.
  4. To upload your resume and cover letter:
    • Click on your initials in the top right corner
    • Scroll down and click on “My Documents”;
    • Click on the “Upload” button and submit your documents.
    Your Career Coach will review your documents, provide feedback, and either approve or require changes. You will see the feedback left by your Career Coach under the document that was reviewed. If your documents have the status of “Changes Required”, you must review the feedback and re-upload a revised document. Any job application that has a document with this status attached to it will automatically be withdrawn from consideration if the documents are not approved before the job posting expiration date.
  5. Your documents will take up to 4-5 business days to be reviewed. It must be approved in order to be submitted in an application. Please plan accordingly and pay close attention to application deadlines. Need examples of what approved resumes should look like? Check out the Career Planning Guide for major specific and a first-year student resume examples.
  6. Once approved you can apply to any jobs that are listed on Handshake including on campus student employment.
  7. To view current openings for on-campus employment:
    • Click on the “Jobs” link;
    • Use the “on-campus” filter to see all part time student positions located at Rider University.
  8. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions:

Planning to work on campus?

What you need to bring to campus:

If you are planning to work on campus, be prepared to bring physical Proof of Identification and Work Authorization documents to campus in order to work and be paid. By federal law, all students must show unexpired and original documents (no photocopies or pictures of the documents) to the Payroll Office in order to complete the I-9 process. Students cannot begin working until they have completed the I-9 process by showing these documents. Student Workers who fail to complete this step within the allotted time, may result in suspension or termination of employment. For a list of acceptable documents to bring to campus, review page three of the I-9 form.
