Graduate business students must be enrolled and in good academic standing (3.0 or better) to participate in a credit bearing internship. The objectives of a graduate business internship are:
- To have an on-site experiential learning experience through supervised employment for professional development
- To complement and reinforce the professional learning and training completed in the classroom
- To gain practical work experience and further clarify your academic focus and career goals
Up to three total internship credits are allowed per graduate program. Students interested in earning academic credit for their internship experience must follow the application instructions below.
Find an Internship
Students can find internship opportunities through Rider Handshake, Rider career fairs, faculty recommendations, professional associations, and online job search sites such as Glassdoor.
Make sure you are connected to your Rider University Graduate Business Association through LinkedIn. With over 2,000 members, you can connect with alumni, current graduate business students, and faculty who have the insider knowledge of organizations that may be hiring interns in your field.
Check out additional resources on the Career Development and Success Center Resources website.
Once students secure an internship, they may follow the steps below to apply for academic credit.
Instructions to Apply
For students interested in earning academic credit for their internship experience, the first step is to consult with a faculty sponsor and receive confirmation that the experience qualifies for academic credit.

During the consultation, students should provide:
- A job description outlining the duties performed and a brief description of the firm.
- An offer letter specifying the start and end dates of the experience and the number of hours per week.
Once the faculty sponsor confirms that the experience qualifies for academic credit, students must complete this survey to begin the registration process.
Required Attachments:
- Job description and offer letter
- Assumption of Risk (AOR) Form (required for all off-campus positions, whether in person or remote)
All required documentation must be submitted for approval.
Approval Process

- Associate Dean: Dr. Lan Nygren, [email protected]
After approval, the application will be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office for processing.
If the faculty sponsor or associate dean has any questions regarding the application, they may contact the student via email.
