Opera Theatre
Westminster Opera Theater offers two fully staged opera productions each year, as well as a staged Opera Workshop performance, all three open by audition to students from the sophomore year through graduate study. In addition, each year we offer either a fully staged opera or opera workshop exclusively for undergraduate singers each year.
Recent productions have included Die Zauberflöte, Cendrillon, Dialogues des Carmelites, “Love, Opera Style” which was comprised of four one-act American operas, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, The Bartered Bride, Les contes d’Hoffman, Gianni Schicchi, The Impresario, and Haydn’s Il mondo della luna.
We also offer a variety of performance-based courses, including:

Opera Workshop
The Opera Workshop is a wonderful opportunity for students to acquire and hone the skill-sets That equip you for the demands of a performance in a full role. Opera Workshop provides students with a technical process for preparing, exploring and, ultimately, performing in a safe, mentored experience. The course culminates in a performance. Scenes are chosen based upon the needs and interests of the students in the class.

L’incoronazione di Poppea, Alciina, Giulio Cesare, Idomeneo, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Don Giovanni, La Cenerentola, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Lucia di Lammermoor, L’elisir d’amore, La traviata, Carmen, La bohème, Manon, Les Mamelles des Tirésias, Rusalka, Der Rosenkavalier, Arabella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Rake’s Progress, Candide, Little Women, and others.
