Get real-world experience and earn college credit at a reduced cost.
Rider University offers undergraduate students the opportunity to receive academic credit for participating in an internship during Summer Sessions or J-term at a discounted tuition rate of $250 per credit. This reduced tuition rate is only applicable to credit for internship opportunities, not co-ops.
We strongly encourage all School of Communication, Media, and Performing Arts students to speak with their program faculty internship supervisor (listed below) for detailed information, including eligibility and other program requirements, before applying for a for-credit internship. After contacting your faculty advisor, students must follow the outlined internship process and steps to apply below before they can receive academic credit for their internship.
Securing an Internship
- Do you fit the requirements?
Students must be a junior or senior. Check the current undergraduate academic catalog for any additional departmental requirements.
- What internship is right for you?
Students should contact the Internship Coordinator responsible for the area in which they are interested in doing their internship. The Coordinator can provide a list of available sites and help students prepare the necessary documents and forms to apply for the internship. If you obtain a site on your own, contact the appropriate Internship Coordinator for site approval.
- Complete an “Internship for Credit” form
The Internship for Credit form is available on the Registrar's webpage. To receive credit, students must submit the approved “Internship for Credit” form to the Dean's Office by the third week of the semester in which the internship is to be taken.
