Recruitment - Year Round
Recruitment is a year long activity and students can join at anytime during their college years after they complete 12 Rider credits. Students are also required to have a 2.5 cumulative GPA to join. The majority of the recruitment process does take place within the first six weeks of each semester.
Fraternity & Sorority Awards & Recognition
At the close of each academic year, the community takes time to give recognition to the numerous achievements of both Fraternity & Sorority chapters and individual chapter members. A reception is usually held to provide a chance for the Fraternity & Sorority community to review and celebrate their accomplishments.
Greek Week
Greek Week is an annual tradition comprised of sporting events, performances judged by University staff members, community service activities, and educational programs that takes place during the month of April. The environment created by Greek Week allows the community to grow closer together and puts fraternity and sorority life in the spotlight of Rider University.
Meet the Greeks
Meet the Greeks is an annual event hosted by the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) during the Fall semester of each academic year. Organizations take this opportunity to showcase individual traditions, stepping, strolling, and various forms of saluting. This exhibition of traditions isn’t limited to just Rider specific chapters and invitations are typically extended to organizations of the surrounding MGC & NPHC community.
Sweetheart Weekend
Unique to Rider University, Sweetheart Weekend has become a fixture at the beginning of each Fall semester. This iconic tradition allows the fraternity and sorority community to showcase, honor, and recognize individuals who exhibit values of organizations other than their own. Chapters from the InterFraternal Council (IFC) and National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) nominate and then select sweethearts from other organization to represent and wear their letters. This two day event is a spectacle of fun, excitement, enthusiasm, charisma, and unity within the Greek community.
Yard Show
This annual event is designed to showcase the fraternity and sorority traditions of stepping, strolling, and saluting. It is usually held in the Spring semester and draws a large crowd of students from Rider and its neighboring colleges.
