Today, adult students comprise a large portion of the enrollment at most colleges and universities. In 1981, the Newcombe Foundation created scholarship programs for returning or second-career students who were seldom able to qualify for financial aid. For over 35 years, Rider University and the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation have awarded scholarships to hundreds of mature students. Today, this program is open to all.
Criteria for scholarship consideration:
- Age 25 or older
- Undergraduate degree candidates seeking first Bachelor’s degree
- Completed at least half of a baccalaureate degree program (60 credits or more)
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average
- Must demonstrate need (FAFSA required)
We are committed to helping make your education affordable. All Rider University students meeting the criteria will be considered for scholarship support. The scholarships do not reduce any other financial aid and are not renewable or guaranteed. Students that will receive scholarship support will receive notification from financial aid.
