by Rider Sports Information
Rider University Athletic Director Don Harnum has announced the hiring of Jesse Neider as the men's golf head coach. Neider comes to Rider following three years coaching golf at Princeton Day School, including the last two as head coach.
Neider led Princeton Day School to its first-ever State Tournament of Champions appearance, lowering the team's scoring average by over five strokes in a year. He coached the State Sectional Individual Champion, a Second Place finisher, the Individual First-Team All-Area honoree and an Individual Second-Team All-Group selection.
"We are excited to add Jesse to our team of successful coaches in the Rider Athletic Department," says Harnum. "He has a plethora of competitive playing experience, coupled with successful coaching experience. His enthusiasm for teaching the game and working with young people came through clearly during the interview process. I would also like to congratulate and thank Associate Athletic Director Brian Keane for leading the search process."
Prior to his stint as head coach, where he was responsible for all aspects of the program, Neider was the assistant varsity golf coach at Princeton Day School, assisting in player development and team building.
"I am thrilled and honored to join Rider University as the head coach for the men's golf team," says Neider. "This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a talented group of student-athletes and contribute to a program with a strong tradition of excellence. I want to express my gratitude and respect for Jason Barry, whose dedication and leadership have laid a strong foundation for the team's future success. I am eager to bring my passion for the game, my coaching experience, and my commitment to developing each player's skills on and off the course. I look forward to leading the team to new heights and to continue building a championship culture at Rider University."
Neider graduated with honors from Muhlenberg College with a bachelor's in psychology and studio arts – photography and earned his master's from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. As an undergrad, Neider was a four-year starter for Muhlenberg, serving as team captain for two years. He was Conference Individual Runner-Up, two-time Team Conference Champion and two-time First-Team All-Conference honoree.
Neider is a member of the USGA and New Jersey State Golf Association. He holds NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Implicit Bias, Golf Coaching and Concussion certifications.
Outside of golf, he has built a career as an independent photographer, filmmaker and multimedia producer. He's collaborated with photo editors, writers and text editors to photograph news, features, sports and portraits for editorial and commercial clients, including The New York Times, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, Inc., Der Spiegel, Good Housekeeping, ESPN and Bloomberg, among others.
Neider also served as a visiting assistant professor at his alma mater, Muhlenberg. He developed curriculum and taught photography, film and documentary studies courses. He assisted in academic advising and aided in optimizing departmental technical procedures and equipment procurement.
