How Liz O’Hara found her #HomeAtRider: "I became a Bronc back in 2006 when I was only 6 years old. My oldest sister, Lauren, chose Rider to start the next chapter of her life after high school. While we never would have guessed it back then, all four of my older siblings pursued their education here. When it was my turn, I was determined to find a place that would give me a unique experience from my siblings and set me up for a great future beyond college. I am the fifth and final O’Hara sibling to attend Rider, and I can sincerely say that the reasons that sold us on the university back in 2006 were the same reasons that sold me four short years ago. I fell in love with Rider for the same reasons many do, the personalized education, the friendly atmosphere, and the endless opportunities that I had at my fingertips. When I got here, I felt surrounded by people dedicated to my success, found incredible mentors, and knew this would be a place that would contribute to my personal growth. I’ve been involved in a lot these past four years, but one of the most impactful experiences is my involvement with Unified Sports, a club dedicated to helping Special Olympics athletes in the community feel meaningfully included on our campus through sports. Through our Unified Sports program, Rider has recently received Special Olympics Unified Champion School recognition. At the end of the day, the college experience is what you make it. My advice is to push yourself outside of your comfort zone, take every opportunity that you can get, ask a lot of questions, don’t take your time in college for granted — it flies by!"
