Annual festival of holiday music begins Saturday, December 7.
Tickets for the annual Holidays at Westminster festival begin on Monday, November 4 at 10 a.m. Purchase tickets at the Westminster Choir College box office, by calling 609-921-2663 or online at www.rider.edu/arts.
The 2013 Holidays at Westminster festival includes two performances by the Westminster Concert Bell, the annual Evening of Readings and Carols, and two performances by the Westminster Community Chorus.
The Westminster Concert Bell Choir, conducted by Kathleen Ebling Shaw, will present a concert titled “Tidings of Comfort and Joy” on Saturday, December 7 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 4 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster Choir College of Rider University campus in Princeton. The program will feature transcriptions of light classics, caols and folk music to ring in the holiday season, performed on the world’s largest range of handbells. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors.
Four of Westminster’s choirs, organist Alan Morrison and Solid Brass, the renowned brass ensemble, will once again present An Evening of Readings and Carols in the grandeur of the Princeton University Chapel. They will be joined by the Princeton Girlchoir’s Cantores. This spectacular concert will include seasonal readings and the opportunity for the audience to join the artists in singing Christmas carols. Performances are Friday, December 13 at p.m. and Sunday, December 15 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $70, $55 and $40.
The Westminster Community Chorus and Chamber Choir, conducted by Devin Mariman, will present a concert entitled “A Christmas Pops” on Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21 at 8 p.m. The program will feature contemporary Christmas classics, such as White Christmas, Winter Wonderland and The Christmas Song, as well as familiar carols arranged in a popular/jazz style. Jazz pianist Phil Orr will join the ensemble for a delightful holiday program. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
