Head Coach Steve Fletcher was tabbed as the MAAC Men's Coach of the Year

The Rider University men's swimming and diving team won their eighth straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship on Saturday, Feb. 16. The four-day event took place Feb. 13-16, at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Eerie Community College.
The Broncs led from wire-to-wire and finished the Championships with 781 points. Bryant was second overall with 542 points and Marist finished in third-place with 523.5 points.
As a team, Rider earned seven medals, including four golds, on Saturday.
The Broncs also had a pair of major award winners following the conclusion of action. Head Coach Steve Fletcher was tabbed as the MAAC Men's Coach of the Year and sophomore Dillon Walles was named the Men's Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet.
Freshman Kyle Iorizzo finished first overall in the 1650 free with a gold-medal time of 15:36.01.
Senior Lucas Musselman won the 200 back with a new MAAC record time of 1:45.88.
In the 100 free, senior Vincent Gibbons earned a gold medal with a first-place time of 44.27. Also in the event, junior Justin Carey picked up a bronze medal with a third-place time of 44.64.
Rider also earned a pair of medals in the 200 fly. Cole May finished in second-place at 1:47.52 in the A finals to pick up a silver, while sophomore Daniel Bonge ended up in third-place with a bronze-medal time of 1:49.46 in the A finals.
To end the week, the Broncs put an exclamation point on their victory with the 400 free relay of Carey, Musselman, Bonge and Gibbons winning with a new MAAC record time of 2:58.13.
