Dr. David Aderhold ’02 recognized as outstanding educational leader
Dr. David Aderhold ’02, the chief school administrator of West Windsor-Plainsboro School District in New Jersey, was named the 2019 Mercer County Superintendent of the Year in June by the Mercer County Association of School Administrators (MCASA).
Aderhold has served as the district's superintendent since 2013. Among his accomplishments, he guided the school district to the successful passing of a $114,875,000 million bond referendum in 2018 that aims to modernize facilities through a suite of renovation and rehabilitation projects. He has also been instrumental in the County's response to student mental health issues, serving on the New Jersey School Board's Association Mental Health Task Force and the New Jersey Department of Education Transgender Task Force.
"Dr. Aderhold is a talented educator who is greatly respected throughout the state," wrote MCASA President and Hopewell Valley School District Superintendent Thomas Smith in an announcement of the award on June 10. "He is a powerful voice for students as he speaks frequently and eloquently about essential issues such as adequate school funding, mandated testing inefficiencies and effecting teacher training."
Dr. Aderhold received a master's in educational administration from Rider, where he is now an adjunct professor in the University's doctoral program in educational leadership. He also holds a bachelor's in history education from The College of New Jersey and a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Aderhold serves as president of the Garden State Coalition of Schools and the New Jersey Network of Superintendents and serves on several other task forces and committees throughout New Jersey.
