Singing is the core of who we are at Westminster Choir College. Whether it is preparing for an opera role or art song festival with our outstanding faculty, singing in a masterclass for a visiting artist, singing with major orchestras and conductors of the world, or having the opportunity to learn the latest in voice technology and research while being a part of a student/faculty team, singing is our focus.
Since its founding, Westminster Choir College has had a strong focus on voice training. A unique double emphasis in voice pedagogy and performance prepares our graduates to find success on the operatic and concert stages of the world, in studio and classroom teaching positions at prominent schools, universities, and churches, and in thriving private voice studios. The onsite Presser Voice Laboratory provides students the opportunity to explore voice technology and conduct cutting-edge research. Our process-oriented approach guides singers’ studies from anatomy/physiology and acoustics to traditional/contemporary methods in a context of over-arching artistry, enabling them to become the best possible vocal artists, independent musicians, and teachers.
