Student teaching
The student teaching semester is the capstone experience in both the undergraduate teacher education programs and in the Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program.
Student teaching is a fifteen week long semester that is full time teaching. Students are placed in settings where they can learn best practices in teaching and work with partner schools in developing effective teaching strategies and understandings about curriculum, assessment, and classroom management.
Students work directly with one or more cooperating teachers who are selected because of their ability to mentor novice teachers into the profession. Each student teacher also has one or more supervisors who are on the faculty at Rider and who are credentialed in the certification area and have experience teaching.
