Student Conduct Board Member Position Description

Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Good judicial standing
  • Good academic standing
  • Ability to work effectively with Administrators and Students
Responsibilities:
  • Understand, interpret, and apply the conduct process as outlined in the Student Code of Social Conduct
  • Know, interpret, and uphold the University’s Statement of Community Values
  • “Model the Way” for fellow students by upholding the Student Code of Social Conduct in your daily actions.
  • Participate in annual training
  • Commit possibly 4-5 days per month for hearings (hearings last about 1.5-2 hours)
  • Participate in Lesser Level Appeals meetings, Community Standards Board Hearings, and Traffic Ticket Appeals
  • Be able to unbiasedly determine whether a student violated the Student Code of Social Conduct by determining ‘responsible’ or ‘not responsible’
  • Apply appropriate sanctions based off of the Student Code of Social Conduct
  • Work directly with the Office of Community Standards staff
