What is Content Tutoring?
The Academic Success Center offers tutoring for courses at Rider across the disciplines. The ASC employs academically accomplished Rider students who exhibit leadership skills and have received a recommendation from their professor(s).
Content tutoring is designed for students who are looking for support in understanding concepts for a specific course. Peer tutors help improve performance by modeling effective study techniques and breaking down difficult concepts.
The courses for which we offer content tutoring will vary each semester depending on student tutor availability. To view available appointments for your courses online, 24/7, please visit TracCloud and log in with your Rider Key. To speak with a staff member, students may call us at 609-896-5008 or send an email to [email protected] during our administrative hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
If we do not have a tutor for a course that you would like assistance with, you may fill out our tutor request form and we will begin the process of hiring a new tutor, if one is available.
Who are the tutors?
Our peer tutors are successful students who have earned at least a B+ in the courses they tutor, have a high GPA, have been recommended by their professors, and have been trained in tutoring techniques through our tutor training program. Tutors have the opportunity to participate in ongoing training workshops to further their skills as a tutor. Their goal is to help students gain a better understanding of course content and develop study skills through the use of interactive learning strategies.

Most tutoring sessions take place in the Academic Success Center (BLC 237) Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., and on Fridays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Appointments scheduled outside of these hours must be held remotely and scheduled with an ASC staff member during our administrative hours, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
