Getting started

New and visiting students must first apply to Rider University before registering for summer courses. Currently enrolled Rider students do not need to re-apply for Summer Sessions. 

All students may register for courses, review their schedule and view and pay their summer balance in myRider.

Registering for courses

Online courses are indicated with section OL. Students are expected to meet all course requirements and prerequisites. Full information on Rider University’s academic policies, procedures and programs may be found in the academic catalogs.

Current Rider students

Current Rider students can register for courses, review their schedule and view and pay their summer balance in myRider. 

Prior to course registration, please do the following: 

  • Consult with your advisor. If you are currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student, you must receive a greenlight from your advisor. 
  • Explore your financial aid options with the Office of Financial Aid at 609-896-5360 or [email protected]. For more information, visit the Summer Session Financial Aid FAQs webpage.
  • Review and clear account holds in myRider which may prohibit registration, if applicable.
  • Complete the your financial agreement for summer registration through myRider. 
  • Confirm with your home school or college that credits earned at Rider are transferable, if a visiting student.

Visiting students

New undergraduate non-degree seeking students must contact [email protected] to register.

Course codes, descriptions and prerequisites

Please refer to the Undergraduate Academic Catalog or the Graduate Academic Catalog for course codes, descriptions and information about course prerequisites and/or restrictions.

Waitlists for closed courses

If the summer course that you want to take is closed, please take advantage of the waiting list feature in myRider. Waiting lists help the University access student demand for a class and give us an opportunity to react to that demand. Recommended summer course loads

Undergraduate students may take two courses (a maximum of seven credits) in each Summer I or Summer II session (day and/or evening.) Students must have approval from their Dean to exceed the amount of approved credits per session.

The recommended summer graduate course load is one-half that of a regular semester for each summer session. Please contact your program advisor for more specific information.

Payment

You do not have to pay your tuition at the time of registration. Visit the Payments, Billing & Deposits webpage to learn more about our flexible payment plans. Newly enrolled students will receive a bill prior to the beginning of each summer session.
