Joanna Kubik, MSW, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Rider University, with an expertise in youth recidivism, gang involvement, and best practice interventions for at-risk youth. Her work aims to inform policy, research, and practice concerning the treatment of youth who are at increased risk of entering the justice system. Kubik has worked extensively with community agencies to connect at-risk and gang involved youth to evidence-based intervention services, including Community Solutions, Inc. and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Currently, she is involved in an assessment research project with the Petey Greene Program to assess the experiences and impact of tutors working with incarcerated students. She co-authored two book chapter addressing the problems of gangs and gang members in the justice system (Kubik et al., 2017 and Kubik & Boxer, 2022). Her work on justice-involved youth and gang involvement has been featured in outlets such as the Journal of Gang Research, Youth Services Review, Child Abuse & Neglect, and Youth Violence & Juvenile Justice.
