Rider is one of only 122 colleges and universities named to 2020 Transfer Honor Roll

Rider University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2020 Transfer Honor Roll.
The Transfer Honor Roll recognizes four-year colleges and universities that offer proven paths to excellence and success for community college transfer students. Only 122 colleges and universities are included.
“This award is given to four-year colleges and universities with proven outcomes for transfer success,” says Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, Phi Theta Kappa’s president and CEO. “They are the best at providing a supportive and smooth transition from community college — equating to increased rates of bachelor’s degree attainment for transfer students.”
One of every four Rider undergraduates is a transfer student. The University offers guaranteed transfer agreements with many community colleges, including some that are major-specific. Prior to enrollment, Rider pairs transfer students with personal counselors who navigate them through the admissions process and offer advisement following acceptance. Additional support includes an unofficial credit evaluation, even before transfer students apply.
At Rider, 99% of all students receive University-funded scholarships and financial aid, and transfer students with a 3.5 GPA or higher earn transfer scholarships worth more than 50% of tuition. In addition, Phi Theta Kappa members who are graduating from community colleges can compete for one of two Transfer Trustee Scholarships. These full-tuition scholarships are applicable for two years of full-time study, awarded in the fall semester.
“Rider is more than a welcoming place for transfer students; it is a family,” says Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission Jennifer Cook. “Our close-knit academic community is designed to meet transfers where they are and provide the support they need as they work to reach their goals. We care about each of our transfer students and work with them to take the stress out of the process, allowing them the opportunity to focus on getting engaged and taking advantage of all that Rider has to offer.”
Rider students explore their passions and interests with more than 100 majors and minors in business, education, fine and performing arts, science and liberal arts. The University’s Engaged Learning Program facilities the defining experiences of their undergraduate career in nearby communities and all over the world. One-hundred percent of Rider students complete at least two high-impact Engaged Learning experiences before graduation, such as internships, study abroad and service-learning.
Rider was selected to be included in the Transfer Honor Roll based on a rating determined by its profile in an online tool created by Phi Theta Kappa’s online tool called PTK Connect. The tool helps students evaluate institutions where they’d like to enroll, based on cost, scholarship offerings, campus life and more. The top 25% of highest-rated colleges are named to the Transfer Honor Roll.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 nations, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation’s colleges.
