Over three hundred of Rider’s credit-bearing courses1, 2 earn Engaged Learning points because they incorporate rigorous, hands-on learning as part of the curriculum. Approved courses span disciplines and academic levels, and new courses are added throughout the year. There is no limit to the number of courses you can take that earn engaged learning points.
1 The list of approved courses is subject to change at any time. Review the list each semester during course selection to look for updates. The courses listed may not be offered every semester.
2 In most cases, Engaged Learning points will not be earned for course sections that are fewer than 12-13 weeks long unless specifically noted in the Class Section Attribute field. Shortened semesters do not allow enough time to complete the Engaged Learning project contained in the full semester course.

Searching for Engaged Learning Courses Offered by Semester
Approved courses are easily identified by looking at the Class Section Search Tool. A video is available if you need assistance in using this tool, or follow the instructions below.
Select the term you are interested in and click Continue. Select the Advanced Search option to the right of the Search button. Click in the Attribute field to open a list of choices. Select the ELP option(s) you want to view. You can select one or more ELP categories for the search, but you must select them one at a time to add them to the Attributes box. When you are finished adding attributes and any other search criteria you want to include click Search at the bottom of the screen.
The list you view will display all courses that meet the search criteria you entered. The Attribute column indicates the Engaged Learning category that the course will earn points in. If you do not see the Attributes column you will need to enable it. Under the Search Again button on the right of the page click on the gear icon to open a list of fields. Check Attribute in the list and that column will now be displayed.
When Will Points Earned for Courses be Displayed in DegreeWorks?
At the end of each semester once your passing academic grade has been recorded by the Registrar, the credits from the Engaged Learning courses you completed are converted into points, up to a maximum of 3 points for any one course. Points will be recorded on your Engaged Learning Transcript and in DegreeWorks within seven working days after grade submission is completed.
There are two ways you may review a comprehensive list of all Engaged Learning courses. You can view an alphabetical list of all courses by course prefix and number or a list of courses divided into the six Categories of Engaged Learning.
