Rider offers financial assistance, educational resources and flexible pathways for military students seeking their degree
Deciding to enroll in college after the military can offer you new career opportunities, expand your marketability and boost your overall earnings potential while helping ease the adjustment of returning to civilian life.
Your time in the service likely will help you make a smooth adjustment to campus. Many of the skills you learned in the military are ones that can help you to be successful in college, such as resilience, the ability to work hard and contribute as part of a team and top-notch organizational skills.

Support as you navigate campus life
Dating back to the end of the Civil War, Rider University has a long history of assisting veterans, military service members and their families as they advance their education. Today, Rider and its Dr. Eugene Marsh Center for Veterans and Military Affairs are proud of the University’s designation as a Yellow Ribbon School.
As a military friendly university, Rider is dedicated to ensuring your access to education by bridging the financial gap between your education benefits as a veteran and the cost of education at a private institution.
Resources that make enrollment easy
Through the Yellow Ribbon tuition program, active-duty service members and their spouses, and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their dependent children, can earn bachelor’s or master’s degrees or professional certificates at Rider University. Other resources, such as scholarships and financial aid may also be available.

Options to accelerate your degree: military transcripts
Another way that Rider helps military students save time and money on earning their degree is through options to transfer their military occupational experience into college credits. The Joint Service Transcript (JST), validates military training and experience for service members of the Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy: Active Duty, Reserve and Veterans. The Air Force has its own accredited transcript known as the Community College of the Air Force.
A military-connected community
Your connection with others who share your military experience can remain strong through campus events and activities, and through the student group, Rider University Veterans Association (RUVA). Campus groups specifically tailored to veterans, military and military dependents, such as RUVA and Rider Color Guard, contribute to a supportive and friendly environment by hosting programs that are meaningful to the military-connected students and the entire Rider community.
