What is LiveText by Watermark?
Rider University College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) is a nationally accredited institution, which emphasizes continuous improvement of its programs through systematic assessment of teaching and learning.
As leaders in the field of education, our faculty must engage in ongoing program improvement processes that express their commitment to providing the finest professional preparation available in the state and the nation. Program Assessment is very important for ensuring that we achieve our goals and that candidates leave our institution with the knowledge and skills required to be successful teachers for 21st century learners.
In an effort to meet both national and state standards and continuously improve as a College of Education and Human Services, Rider University works with LiveText by Watermark, an online e-portfolio system to function as its assessment tool. LiveText by Watermark has a number of important and exciting advantages for faculty and students as an assessment system that has been adopted by over 500 universities across the country. It is a valuable technology tool that compliments our Canvas Learning Management System and provides us with a powerful way to access, assess, and document our efforts. Many of your key assessments within your program will be posted on LiveText by Watermark and you will be required to access them directly or will be linked to them through a Canvas assignment.

LiveText by Watermark is provided through a private vendor and was selected based on (1) the quality of assistance the LiveText by Watermark company can provide in implementing the system, (2) the quality of support services for students, and (3) the opportunities for students to create and maintain portfolios as a professional tool after leaving Rider University. We believe the portability and long-term usefulness of LiveText by Watermark will be a strong benefit to both our programs and students.
LiveText by Watermark Account
When you register for a course that requires you to submit through LiveText by Watermark, you will be sent an account keycode and instructions on how to register your account. This email will be sent to your University email address and come directly from the LiveText by Watermark site. If you were told that you were supposed to receive a code but did not for any reason, you may inform your professor, who can then contact the College of Education and Human Services support person. LiveText by Watermark Account
If you teach a course with a key assessment embedded, your students are required to submit through LiveText by Watermark will be sent account keycodes to register along with instructions on how to do so. The assessment must be graded on the LiveText by Watermark rubric that is attached and established in the system (either in the site directly or through Canvas). In order to score student submissions, you will need a registered faculty account, and therefore will receive an email containing your own personal keycode with different access capabilities than students in your course. This email will come to your University email address. If you have a key assessment in your course, but for some reason you, or your students, did not yet receive a keycode, please contact Nicole Caplinger at [email protected].
