Program overview

Rider’s social media strategies major will prepare you to strategically create, manage and curate multi-platform social media content for various purposes and in various contexts. You will develop the knowledge and skills to plan and execute social media campaigns, create and implement social media policies, create digital content, and evaluate the effectiveness of social media strategies.

Journalism students

Program requirements

Our 48-credit program features coursework that will provide you with essential communication skills, fundamentals, exposure to current digital media trends and a foundational understanding of communication law and ethics. Students will gain well-rounded skills in multimedia, including video production, podcasting and graphic design. The social media program culminates with a unique capstone experience that allows you to gain hands-on experience and develop your portfolio by working with a professional client under faculty guidance.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2022), this in-demand career path is expected to grow 8% by 2031 which is faster than the average for all occupations. Earning your bachelor’s degree in social media strategies from Rider will provide you with the background and qualifications required for careers in social media, public relations, marketing and related communications fields.
