Rider University President Gregory G. Dell'Omo, Ph.D., has been named chair of the Audit Committee for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). As part of this appointment, he will join the NAICU Executive Committee. Dell'Omo has served as an NAICU board member since 2021.
Founded in 1976, NAICU is the only national membership organization solely focused on representing the nation’s 1,700 private, nonprofit colleges and universities on public policy issues in Washington, D.C. NAICU board members set the association’s agenda on federal higher education policy, actively encourage support for the association’s priorities and initiatives and oversee the organization’s financial administration.
"I am honored to take on additional leadership roles within NAICU," says Dell'Omo. "The organization is a critical advocate for private, nonprofit higher education institutions and works to ensure that all students, regardless of income, have access to higher education."
NAICU focuses on three broad areas: student aid, tax policy and regulation. The organization works to ensure adequate funding for core student aid programs and protect those programs from excessive cuts; to maintain federal support for students and families through the current levels of tax benefits; and to track and respond to the growing regulatory demands placed on higher education institutions.
President since 2015, Dell'Omo serves on boards for a number of other professional organizations, including the New Jersey Presidents’ Council, Independent Colleges and Universities of New Jersey, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Presidents’ Council and NJEdge.Net, Inc. He also recently completed a six-year term on the Board of the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce.
