University named to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society's 2024 Transfer Honor Roll
by Tatiana Sciancalepore
Rider University has once again been named to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s annual Transfer Honor Roll. This marks the University’s eighth consecutive year receiving this distinction, highlighting Rider’s ongoing commitment to creating seamless transfer experiences and fostering academic excellence for community college students.
The Transfer Honor Roll is determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life, admission practices and bachelor’s degree completion. Rider is one of only 228 colleges and universities named to the list.
“We are all incredibly proud of our transfer team and the strong relationship we have built with Phi Theta Kappa,” says Jennifer Cook, associate director of admission. “From their first interactions with our Admissions team and transfer student leaders, to their connections with faculty and the seamless transferring of credits, it is clear to our incoming transfer students how much we value them and are committed to their success.”
With guaranteed transfer agreements with several community colleges, including some that are major-specific, Rider’s commitment to student success begins before enrollment. Transfer students also benefit from comprehensive support, starting with an unofficial credit evaluation and extending through personalized guidance from Admissions counselors that continues after acceptance.
“We are proud to recognize the exceptional colleges and universities that go above and beyond to create accessible pathways to bachelor’s degree completion for community college transfer students,” says Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa.
At Rider, 99% of students receive University-funded scholarships and financial aid. Transfer students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher earn transfer scholarships worth nearly 50% of tuition. Rider also offers three full-tuition Transfer Trustee Scholarships to top community college graduates each fall. Additionally, Phi Theta Kappa members receive an additional $2,000 annually for up to 3 years.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The society comprises more than 4.3 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 countries, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation’s colleges.
