Several Broncs are also ranked individually
by Rider Sports Information
The Rider University Wrestling team is ranked No. 20 in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll. The ranking comes after a successful weekend away with wins at both Minnesota, which was ranked No. 6, and Northern Illinois.
Rider upset wrestling giant Minnesota, 21-17, on Nov. 15 at Williams Arena, before taking its first-ever Mid-American Conference dual at Northern Illinois, 26-6, on Nov. 17 at Victor E. Court.
The Broncs are ranked in the poll for the first time since being No. 21 on Jan. 30, 2018.
In addition to the team ranking, several Broncs are ranked individually in various polls. Topping the list is Jesse Dellavecchia at a high of No. 4 at 157, while TrackWrestling vaulted Dean Sherry to No. 10 at 174 following the redshirt senior's stunning pin of then-No. 6 Devin Skatzka on Friday night. Sherry was also selected Mid-American Conference East Division Wrestler of the Week.
TheOpenMat.com has Ethan Laird at No. 13 at 197, while both TheOpenMat.com and TrackWrestling rank Jonathan Tropea No. 16 at 125. Amateur Wrestling News also has George Walton at No. 19 at 184.
The Broncs return to action Sunday, when they take part in the Keystone Classic. Matches from Philadelphia are set to begin at 10:00 A.M.
