Kutcher has been a member of Rider’s faculty since 2007
Dr. Eugene Kutcher has been appointed to serve as the interim dean of Rider University’s College of Business Administration. The appointment begins Sept. 1.
Kutcher joined Rider in 2007 as an assistant professor in the Department of Management. He was promoted to associate professor and tenured in 2013 and assumed the role of department chairperson in 2015.
“Gene is a strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills, and I look forward to having him as a member of the Academic Affairs leadership team during the coming year,” wrote Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs DonnaJean A. Fredeen in an email to faculty and staff announcing the appointment.
In his role as interim dean, Kutcher’s immediate focus will be on continuing the development of Rider’s Engaged Learning Program within the College and leading its proposed core revision through the governance process while also maintaining the College’s overall commitment to excellence. The College of Business Administration holds dual accreditation by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in its business management and accounting programs. Dual accreditation is held by only 2 percent of programs worldwide.
"It will be a privilege to serve the College in this role, especially during a time when we have some exciting new initiatives and are experiencing incredible momentum," Kutcher said.
Kutcher graduated from Rutgers University with a double major in business management and psychology. He went on to receive a master’s from Montclair State University and a doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University — both in industrial and organizational psychology.
At Rider, he has served as a member of the Faculty Climate Group and Employee Engagement Committee, as the faculty advisor to DAARSTOC, and as co-chair of the Faculty Mentoring Committee and College of Business Administration Core Curriculum Revision Committee. In 2013, he received Rider's Distinguished Teaching Award, an annual award that recognizes faculty teaching excellence.
Kutcher will serve until a new dean is named. A search to find the next dean, which will include faculty and staff from the College of Business Administration, as well as the broader Rider community, is expected to begin in late summer or early fall.
