Comedian Dan Mintz of 'Bob's Burgers' fame brings his stand up to students
by Aimee LaBrie
On the popular Fox animated show Bob's Burgers, the character Tina Belcher is an awkward tween with thick glasses who speaks in a low monotone. Comedian Dan Mintz, who voices the character, also wears glasses and delivers his stand-up routines in a similar flat tone.
On Friday, Oct. 23, at 9:30 p.m. at Yvonne Theater, students are invited to see the real Dan Mintz, up close and personal at a free performance. William Gallagher '16, comedy chair for the Student Entertainment Council, sees this as a night not to miss. "Mintz’s act is deadpan, dry and absolutely hilarious," he says. "His act, combined with his visibility for his role as Tina on Bob’s Burgers, is sure to fill every seat in the Yvonne this Friday."
Originally from Anchorage, Ala., Mintz started his stand-up career in Boston and has appeared on shows such as Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman and Comedy Central Presents. He is currently a writer and producer on Nathan For You, the head writer on The Awesomes and the voice of Tina on Bob’s Burgers. His stand-up album The Stranger was released on Oct. 7, 2014.
Free tickets will be available in the Office of Campus Life on Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. while they last.
A Rider I.D. is required for admission. This event is sponsored by the Student Entertainment Council.
