Teresa Lim joined the faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music of Rider University in September 2002.
Ms. Lim has a Master’s degree in Music, Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, and a Master of Arts degree in church music from Santa Clara University, California. She also received teacher’s diplomas and degrees for voice and piano from Trinity College of Music, ABRSM in London, and from the Yamaha Music Foundation, Japan.
In March 2006, she was recognized as a MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) in recognition of professional excellence in piano performance, piano pedagogy, theory and general musicianship and for dedication to professional growth and excellence in music.
Prior to joining Westminster Conservatory, Ms. Lim taught at music academies in London and Singapore. She was also a presenter at the Music Teacher’s Symposium (1998) in the Asian Pacific region. At Westminster, Ms. Lim is in the artist faculty teaching both private and group classes in piano, theory, early childhood and the Young Artist Program. She specializes in teaching the ABRSM and TCM international examinations, U.K. and in Yamaha Music, Japan. In September 2005, Ms. Lim pioneered the Westminster Conservatory‘s “Piano and Pizzicati” music group class for children and designed a curriculum for the piano component of this course.
In addition, Ms. Lim also served as music liturgist, choir director, pianist and cantor in the United Kingdom, New Jersey and Singapore churches. She has also served as choral accompanist for church choirs. In June 2011, Ms. Lim was invited to conduct a one-day music workshop on “Liturgy and Music in Ministry ” to catholic churches in Singapore.
Currently, Ms. Lim is also an adjudicator for the piano festivals, auditions and competitions organized by Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the American-Asian Fine Arts Association Piano Competitions (AAFAA). She is a piano and music composition instructor for Westminster Choir College’s Middle School Piano Camp (2001-to date). As guest lecturer, for Westminster’s Piano Pedagogy Certificate Program, she presents pedagogy classes to piano teachers on “Exploring Teaching Methods and Repertoire.”
