Biography
Dr. Irma Sandoval-Arocho, LCSW, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work. She teaches in the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Program (BSW) and serves as its Program Director.
Dr. Sandoval-Arocho has 25 years of experience in the field of social work with 13 years of specialized practice experience in school social work. She has dedicated most of her clinical career to serving latine communities, in particular, newly arrived immigrants. As a social work educator, Dr. Sandoval-Arocho is passionate about serving undergraduate students through teaching and mentoring and has a strong interest in cultivating opportunities for her students in a local and global context.
Before joining Rider University, Dr. Sandoval-Arocho taught undergraduate students at a Hispanic-serving institution of Higher Education in Puerto Rico and was the BSW Program Coordinator at the same institution. Dr. Sandoval-Arocho was born in Guatemala and emigrated to New Jersey at the age of five.
