Elena Panova received her diplomas in piano performance and piano pedagogy in Russia, where she studied with Natalia Novikova, pupil of Vladimir Sofronickiy. She presented solo and duo performances in Russia, Austria and the United States. In 1997, Ms. Panova immigrated to the United States where she has since gained recognition for her outstanding work as a teacher and collaborative pianist.
Ms. Panova joined the faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music in 1998 where she teaches piano and chamber music, and serves as Chamber Music Program coordinator. She also teach piano at Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Panova and her violin partner, Milena Dawidowicz, have been performing since 1999 as the Baval Duo, which means, "wind" in the Roma language. They specialize in the music of eastern Europe including gypsy and classical music influenced by the gypsy style and tradition.
