Trustee Challenge could result in additional $500k in support of current students

Few individuals can rival the commitment to Rider’s educational mission of the University’s Board of Trustees. But, this year, they’re challenging the Rider community to equal their dedication to the University's success.
Rider Trustees have committed to match — dollar for dollar — up to $250,000 of all new or increased gifts to the Annual Fund, resulting in an additional $500,000 in support of current students.
“Every gift to Rider makes a difference, and this challenge ensures that every dollar will have double the impact,” says Michael B. Kennedy ’72, chair of the Board of Trustees. “The Board is thrilled to step up its level of support and we encourage everyone to participate.”
By taking part in the Trustee Challenge, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of current students. All gifts received will go into the Annual Fund, which allows the University to allocate resources to student scholarships, study abroad programs, student-faculty research projects, multicultural programming, career services initiatives, and much more.
“The progress we make as a University, and the impact we have on the lives of our students, is directly influenced by the generosity of our donors,” says Vice President for University Advancement Jonathan Meer. “We couldn’t be more thankful to the Trustees who pledged their increased support and the donors who are answering their call.”
Although approximately 600 donors have already made new or increased gifts to the University so far this year, many more will be needed for Rider to meet its ambitious $2,065,000 fundraising goal for this year’s Annual Fund.
To qualify for the match, gifts must be new or increased. For example, if an individual makes a first-time gift of $25, that contribution will be matched with $25 from the Trustees. If he or she gave $25 last year, and then contributes $50 this year, $25 would be matched through the Challenge.
