Program requirements

The dance science major integrates coursework in dance and scientific disciplines to focus on enhancing human performance, reducing injuries, and improving physical, mental, as well as emotional health and fitness.  Dance Science majors work closely with our Physical Therapist, doing practicums and projects and participating in research projects.

Tap into your artistry

Hone the techniques you develop with frequent performances in dance ensembles, studio showings and Dance Day events. Further your artistry with opportunities to work directly with professional dance artists in the annual dance showcase, Rider Dances. 

Harness the healing power of your art

Apply your artistry as a therapeutic technique and enhance your undergraduate studies with our accelerated 4+2 option. You’ll earn an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Dance/Movement Therapy concentration and qualify to become a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) AND a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
