When Marian Ashton graduated from Trenton Business College in 1866 as the first female graduate, she could have never known the trailblazing history she was creating at what would eventually become Rider University.
Now, more than 150 years later, thousands of female graduates have followed in Marian’s footsteps, creating trailblazing journeys of their own. In this issue’s feature article, you’ll meet several successful alumnae who are extraordinary examples of Rider’s century-and-a-half-plus commitment to educating and preparing women to lead in our global society.
You’ll also read about Vin Milano ’85, another successful alumnus who has made his mark in the pharmaceutical industry and credits his Rider education as the foundation for his business achievements.
Not to be outdone by our young alumni and students, this issue features four of Rider’s best who are making their mark in the broadcast industry at the nationally renowned Elvis Duran Show after getting their start at our campus radio station, 107.7 The Bronc.
We’ve always used this magazine as a way to share an abundance of news about Rider University. I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to update you on the status of an important project currently underway by our Board of Trustees. In December 2016, the Board initiated a study of our current two-campus structure as part of a larger analysis of the University’s future strategic plan.
As of press time for this issue of Rider magazine, the Board is still judiciously undertaking this study, which involves complex examination of many options for the future of Westminster Choir College and the Princeton campus. I anticipate that the study will conclude soon, and the outcome will allow Rider to move forward in a way that is most beneficial for the University as a whole. I will continue to keep you informed on this important issue.
Until then, enjoy this issue of Rider magazine. I hope the many exciting advances taking place all throughout your University inspire you to become more involved with Rider. You are integral to our success and have much value to add to our institution.
Go Broncs!
