Executive Secretary, College of Business Administration
Exclusive online story
Q: What's the biggest change you've seen at Rider since you first started?
A: The campus has changed a lot since I started working at Rider in 1999. The Student Recreation Center, Moore Residence Hall, Beckett Village and North Hall are all new buildings on campus. Plus, many of the buildings have undergone renovations, such as the Bart Luedeke Center Theater.
Q: What about the University has not changed since you started?
A: The family feeling has not changed at Rider. Even though some of the people have moved on, the feeling of family has remained a constant throughout my time here.
Q: Why have you decided to dedicate so much time to Rider?
A: I credit my parents with showing me the importance of a good work ethic. But really, another part of what makes Rider great is that I enjoy the work I do and the people I have collaborated with, both during my time in Student Affairs and now in the College of Business Administration.
Q: What is your best memory of your time here?
A: I have two best memories. The first is watching my two sons graduate from Rider. As a mother, there is something special watching your child walk across the stage to receive their degree. My other best memory was when I received the Frank N. Elliott Award. I felt so honored to be recognized for doing my job, and realizing that others were noticing the time I put in — that was an unbelievable feeling.
Q: How has technology changed your job and what "old school" approaches do you think are under appreciated now?
A: When I started at Rider, we were still using paper calendars. Within a month, Rider went with Oracle calendar, and now is transitioning to Google calendar. The student database has changed from Datatel to Banner. It was fun working on the transitions. With all of the advances in technology though, I still like meeting with people face to face — that's another part of my job that I really like.
